Meghan

Meghan

Head Technician

Meghan grew up in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in Harrisonburg, Virginia, smack dab in the middle of five brothers—which probably explains her mix of toughness and heart. Raised by a family that thrived in the great outdoors, Meghan was always hiking, camping, and getting dirt under her nails. Her mom used to say she was destined for the veterinary world. It wasn’t until college, when she took a kennel job at a small animal clinic just to make ends meet, that everything clicked.

Over the years, Meghan has worn many hats, from exotic animal technician to clinic manager, mastering every role with passion and grit. One memory that sticks with her involves a critically ill ferret and the deeply emotional connection she formed with its grieving owner, who later returned with a handmade blanket as a token of gratitude. Meghan still treasures that blanket as a reminder of the deep love people share with their pets—and how lucky she is to be part of it.

In 2017, Meghan made a big move to Mississippi to marry her high school sweetheart, John. Looking for a clinic that would support her desire for work-life balance, she found the perfect fit in Acosta Veterinary Hospital. As our head technician, Meghan brings her years of experience, leadership, and a whole lot of heart to the team. Her favorite parts of the day? The sloppy kisses, warm hugs, and silly antics from her furry patients who brighten even the busiest shifts.

Outside of the clinic, Meghan’s life is just as full. She and John have two kids—Ian and Isabella—who begged for a puppy and a kitten…and won. Now their family includes Colt the Rottweiler, Tiger the brown tabby, and Bear, their wise and slightly grumpy senior pup. The three pets have become best buds, much to Bear’s surprise. When she’s not in scrubs, you’ll likely find Meghan out on the water with her crew, casting lines off their boat, collecting seashells with Isabella, or spotting sea creatures near the islands.

Erica B

Erica

Veterinary Technician

Erica’s love for animals started as soon as she could toddle after a stray cat or beg her parents for “just one more” rescue pet. Growing up, she was the kid who always wanted to do more for her furry (and sometimes scaly) friends but didn’t yet have the know-how. That curiosity never waned. In fact, if anything, it only got stronger. From memorizing animal facts to dreaming of ways to make pets’ lives better, it was clear that a career working with animals was in Erica’s future.

Erica started as a receptionist but quickly realized that just booking appointments wasn’t enough; she wanted to be hands-on. After jumping headfirst into learning the ropes as an assistant, she couldn’t stop there. Clinic by clinic, she soaked up knowledge like a sponge, eventually leveling up to the role of veterinary technician. Since joining Acosta Veterinary Hospital in 2023, Erica has found her true home, a place where she can blend compassion, education, and top-tier care to help both pets and their humans.

At home, Erica shares her space with three dogs—Zeus, River, and McCoy—and two mischievous cats, Neptune and Chompy. Whether it’s Zeus turning tennis balls into confetti, River proving that zoomies can happen anywhere, or McCoy making fetch an all-day event, there’s never a dull moment. And let’s not forget Neptune’s selectively affectionate ways or Chompy’s uncanny ability to cause chaos with charm.

When she’s not working magic at the clinic or tending to her plethora of fur-babies, Erica is all about family time, video games, and chasing whatever hobby has currently caught her attention (fishing, for now—ask again next week).

Morgan B

Morgan

Veterinary Technician / Customer Service Representative

From the moment Morgan walked into Acosta Veterinary Hospital in August 2025, she knew she had found the right palace for her. What stood out most wasn’t just the quality of care—it was the people. Watching the team support one another with ease and compassion made her realize this wasn’t just a workplace; it was a family united by a shared love for animals.

Morgan’s path into veterinary medicine began long before she joined the profession. Fourteen years ago, she witnessed a car accident involving a family and their dog. The terrified pup bolted from the scene, and Morgan instinctively followed, safely bringing him back to his owners. Drawing on her family’s medical background, she cleaned and bandaged the dog’s minor injuries. Seeing the relief and gratitude on that family’s faces became a defining moment—it was the spark that sent her down the path of veterinary medicine.

Since then, Morgan has dedicated herself to helping pets and the people who love them. She finds deep satisfaction in building relationships with clients and ensuring their pets receive the comfort, attention, and medical care they deserve. She especially enjoys performing dental cleanings and using laser therapy to help pets manage pain naturally—two areas where she can see real, immediate results.

Born and raised in South Mississippi, Morgan’s Italian-Russian roots and strong family ties keep her grounded. A former softball player and dancer, she’s also the proud mom of five amazing kids who inspire her every day. At home, she shares life with her two rescues—Teddy, a dog with a big heart and an even bigger story, and Sissy, a playful young cat who won her husband over before anyone else realized she was there.

For Morgan, veterinary medicine isn’t just a job—it’s a lifelong calling built on empathy, teamwork, and love.

Shelley

Shelley

Lead Receptionist

For Shelley, a career in veterinary medicine wasn’t something she planned—it was something that found her. In 2007, while singing in the choir at her church in Jackson, MS, she mentioned she was looking for a new job. A veterinarian in the congregation invited her to apply at his clinic, and soon after, Shelley stepped into a world that would become her passion. Since then, she has spent over a decade immersed in hands-on care before transitioning to her role as a lead receptionist, where she brings warmth and experience to every client she meets.

Shelley’s journey in animal care has been filled with special moments, but one that stands out is the time she fostered a hydrocephalic Boston Terrier puppy. Told he might not live long, Shelley gave him a home, taught him to walk, and loved him through every day of his short life. He lived for six months and left a lasting imprint on her heart—a reminder of the resilience and joy animals bring, no matter how long they are with us.

At Acosta Veterinary Hospital, Shelley thrives on building relationships. She loves getting to know clients and their pets, and she takes pride in being more than just the person at the front desk. For her, veterinary care is about trust, compassion, and making a real difference in the lives of animals.

Now living in Biloxi, Shelley shares her life with her husband, son, and their lively pug, Captain. After reuniting with her teenage love and marrying him—Shelley lives with peace and happiness in family, faith, and in her work. Whether it’s evenings by the firepit or days spent fishing, she cherishes the simple joys of life, bringing that same warmth and gratitude into her role at Acosta every day.
